Gunman wounded by deputy who returns fire south of Sedalia, sheriff says
A 27-year-old Sedalia man is recovering from a gunshot wound after a deputy-involved shooting early Saturday in Pettis County, the county’s sheriff said.
Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond said his office responded to a call on State Route U, south of Sedalia, shortly after 9 a.m.
Bond reported that a deputy and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper arrived at the area and found a man in front of a residence.
Bond said the man fired multiple gunshots and the deputy fired back, striking him.
The man was flown to a Columbia hospital for treatment.
Bond said the Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol will continue to process the scene during the afternoon.
