Troopers respond to Cole County crash after driver swerves to avoid deer

Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a single-car crash on U.S. 50 early Thursday morning.

According to the probable cause statement, the crash happened when a Mazda was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 when the driver swerved to avoid a deer.

Troopers said the car became airborne then struck the ground again, rolling over and coming to a rest on its side.

Jacob Wolken, the driver, had serious injuries and was transported to Capitol Region.

The Mazda was totaled, troopers said.
