Howard County deputies report multiple IRS scam calls

The Howard County Sheriff’s Department reported on Thursday that deputies have received multiple calls from concerned citizens about calls they are getting allegedly from the IRS.

Deputies said the callers in the complaints usually have a foreign accent, threatening there will be an arrest warrant if the citizen does not pay.

Deputies warn Howard County citizens that the calls are a scam and the IRS will never contact a person via the phone.

Citizens should hang up the phone and not call the number back, deputies said.
