Fulton Public Schools creates Toys for Tots competition, days after donations stolen

The Fulton School District has created a Toys for Tots challenge in an effort to replenish the toys that were recently stolen and vandalized.

Ryan Waters, the activities director for Fulton Public Schools, is inviting nearby school districts to join in on the challenge.

Waters said the district who collects the most toys will be announced the winner, and will be give the first annual traveling trophy.

The toy collection will begin Nov. 6 and end Dec. 14.

The competition comes days after a storage unit containing donations was burglarized.

The toys belonged to the Columbia-area program and were meant to go to children in nine counties. The charity organization had been collecting the items since January.
