Fulton man charged with illegally manufacturing firearm silencer

Tom Larson, acting United States attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that Nathaniel Carroll, 37, was charged in federal court today with illegally manufacturing a firearm suppressor, following his arrest on suspicion of harassing a state worker involved with him losing custody of his children.

According to an affidavit, Carroll manufactured a suppressor after a judge determined the permanent removal of the children from Carroll’s custody.

Deputies said Carroll was seen at an Ace Hardware store following the verdict and purchased several items that could be used to build a suppressor.

Carroll allegedly said to a store clerk that he needed the items to build a suppressor, deputies said.

Deputies said they executed a search warrant on Carroll’s residence and found a suppressor on a shelf in the garage. Officers found another suppressor in a gun safe along with a rifle that was threaded to fit a suppressor.

In addition to the suppressors, officers found 13 firearms inside the residence as well as over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Carroll is scheduled to an initial court appearance on Thursday afternoon.
