Update: Court withdraws warrant for man’s arrest after attorney weighs in

Update, 3:30 p.m.: A judge has withdrawn her warrant for Deandre Winters’ arrest.

The attorney for Winters claims he never violated the conditions of his bond, despite failing a drug test.

Josh Oxenhandler, attorney for Winters, asked the court to withdraw its warrant on Wednesday afternoon. Oxenhandler said the failed drug test came from marijuana smoked prior to Winters’ arrest. The test was done directly after his release from custody. Oxenhandler said that since Winters’ release, he has not smoked marijuana.

Original: Public court documents indicate Deandre Winters, the man charged in connection with Richard Ward’s death, allegedly violated the terms of his bond.

Winters and Darren Carter are charged with tampering with evidence in the murder that happened on Rolling Rock Drive.

Both men are accused of moving Ward and hiding the gun after he was shot.

Court records show Winters was released on bond last week.

However, the terms of his release involved eight conditions, including supervision,GPS monitoring with exclusionary zones, not to possess or consume intoxicants, submit to random substance screenings, only to be absent from apartment for certain events, not possess or use dangerous instruments or deadly weapons, not travel outside of Boone County and not have any arrests or citations.

Court records do not indicate which bond condition Winters violated.

There is a warrant filed for Winter’s arrest for failing to obey the judge’s orders but he is not currently in the Boone County Jail.
