Patchy frost possible overnight, with first freeze by weekend

TONIGHT: It will be cold tonight as we drop into the mid to upper 30s under mostly clear skies. Patchy frost is likely in wind protected valleys, but most locations should remain frost free thanks to sustained breezy winds. Winds will lighten through the night, with winds out of the west up to 11 mph. Wind chills will fall into the lower 30s by morning.

WEDNESDAY: It will be a chilly start to the day, with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s and wind chill values near freezing. Despite the chilly morning, westerly winds up to 20 mph and gusting up to 25 will warm us through the day. We’ll see highs top out in the mid 60s under mostly sunny skies by Wednesday afternoon, with slightly warmer conditions through the evening hours. Overnight Wednesday, temperatures will bottom out in the lower 40s.

EXTENDED: After warming back to the lower 70s Thursday, another cold front moves in late on Thursday, ushering in drastically cooler temperatures. This will drop our high temperatures into the upper 30s Thursday night, only reaching the mid to upper 40s on Friday and Saturday. As the front tracks through Mid-Missouri, areas near Interstate 44 could see some light rain. Any rain will be less than a .10″ and will quickly track out of the region as drier air follows the cold front. The first freeze of the season is expected both Friday and Saturday night as temperatures drop to near 30 with some upper 20s possible. With the first freeze likely upon us, it’s important to make sure you and your home are prepared. The weekend looks dry but chilly with days only warming into the upper 40s to near 50.
