Man dies after being hit by car on Keene Street in east Columbia

UPDATE 3, 10:21 p.m.: Police confirm the victim, Donald Meyer, 60, of Columbia has died from his injuries.

Officers on the scene said the driver was cooperative and in shock after the crash.

UPDATE 2: The road reopened around 9:50 p.m.

UPDATE 1: Police do not know the extent of the pedestrian’s injuries, but do believe they are serious.

Officers on the scene said the road was taped off so that a crash reconstruction team could investigate.

The driver appeared to be traveling south when the man was hit in the road.

ORIGINAL: The Columbia Police Department is investigating after a person was hit at North Keene Street and Berrywood Drive in east Columbia.

The collision happened around 8:30 p.m.

At least one person has been hospitalized. A police vehicle followed the ambulance from the scene.

Avoid the area, if possible.
