Columbia man charged with stalking, accused of keeping a journal of the whereabouts of victim

Columbia police arrested Christopher Dungan on Sunday after officers said they found the man in violation of a court order.

According to the probable cause statement, officers were doing a check on a business on Paris Road when they noticed a suspicious vehicle in the back of the business.

Police said they tried to initiate a check on the vehicle, but the car took off at a high rate of speed toward Paris Road.

Officers said the car pulled into a driveway in the 2400 block of South Drive, and that they recognized the residence because they had just arrested the man there for violation of a court order against the victim.

Police said they recognized the man, later identified as Dungan.

Officers searched Dungan’s car and said they found a black journal with entries made about where the victim was.

The last entry was made on Sunday chronicling where the victim was, police said.

Officers said the distance between the business and the victim’s house was in close proximity and violated Dungan’s court order.

Dungan was previously arrested in July for driving by the victim’s residence.

Dungan is also currently on probation for harassment.

Police said they found a hole in the fence on the business’s property that had a view of the victim’s residence, and that footprints that matched Dungan’s were found nearby.

Dungan is charged with stalking.
