Columbia police set up perimeter near College Ave to look for suspect

Columbia police were seen near the intersection of Paquin and Matthews streets around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

One officer advised an ABC 17 News reporter to stay in the car because a suspect was in the area on foot.

Several Columbia police officers responded, along with a Boone County K-9 unit and University of Missouri police.

The responding law enforcement officers set up a perimeter around College Avenue, Paquin and Matthews streets, University Avenue and Hitt and Locust streets.

ABC 17 News heard reports of two burglaries in the area, but have not been able to confirm if it was the burglary suspect police were searching for.

The responding law enforcement officers left the area around 5:15 a.m.

ABC 17 News is working to confirm more details and will update this story once more information is available.
