1 person taken to hospital after shooting in central Columbia

Columbia police confirm one person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a shooting near the Business Loop Saturday night.

Police were called to the 700 block of North Sixth Street around 8:40 p.m. for reports of a gunshot wound victim.

An officer on scene told ABC 17 News the shooting incident happened near Grand and Austin Avenue.

Police had several evidence markers down in the area and blocked off part of Austin Avenue.

The Highway Patrol is also on scene investigating.

ABC 17 News is working to confirm more information with police.
