Two women arrested on suspicion of stealing from New Bloomfield business

Callaway County sheriff deputies were called to the New Bloomfield Dollar General just before 10 p.m. Friday for a reported theft.

Elizabeth Pigford and Michelle McMillin were identified as the suspects. According to the Sheriff’s Officer, McMillin ran away before deputies arrived.

A K-9 unit was brought in and reportedly detected drugs inside Pigford’s car.

When a deputy tried to arrest Pigford, she allegedly resisted. She was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Callaway County Jail on suspicion of resisting arrest and for a felony warrant probation violation. She’s being held on a $21,500 bond.

The New Bloomfield police chief later found and arrested McMillin in the New Bloomfield area around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. McMillin was arrested on suspicion of stealing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for a failure to appear warrant out of Cole County.

As of Saturday afternoon, McMilln was still in the Callaway County Jail.
