Two injured in fall at The Pinnacles park in Boone County

Two people were recovering after falling at a park in Boone County Friday night.

Firefighters on the scene told ABC 17 News a man and woman were hiking at The Pinnacles when the incident happened.

Firefighters said the man was able to walk out with minor injuries, but the woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

Park Manager Curt Barrett said he believed the woman had a head injury from the fall.

“It takes awhile to pack somebody out of here, especially with that kind of injury,” said Barrett. “I’m sure they gotta be real careful.”

When asked if he’d seen injuries like this before on his watch, Barrett said, “It’s not that often. There have been a few times. We had a helicopter land in the yard before to get people out.”

“Mostly when they’re out here, it’s because somebody’s lost and they go out and find them,” said Barrett of emergency crews.
