Two from Jefferson City arrested for burglary in Callaway County

Early Friday morning, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 3000 block of County Road 452.

According to an official release, deputies got to the scene and encountered two suspects whom attempted to hide from deputies. The suspects, identified as James Egbert, 27, of Jefferson City and Sandy Gallaspie, 57, of Jefferson City, were apprehended by deputies and taken into custody. At the time of capture, Egbert had a machete.

The investigation revealed that the suspects were actively committing a residential burglary and attempting to remove items from the property.

Egbert had been involved in five prior burglary offenses committed at the same property, dating back to August 2016.

Both Egbert and Gallaspie were taken to the Callaway County Jail.

Egbert was booked for numerous felony counts of burglary and stealing and armed criminal action.

Gallaspie was booked for felony counts of burglary, stealing, possession of burglary tools and unlawful possession of a firearm.
