Namaste Health Care reports data breach, unsure if the attacker had access to files

Namaste Health Care reports that during the weekend of Aug. 12-13 an unknown cyber-attacker gained improper access into Namaste’s computer systems.

The facility said the cyber-attacker appeared to have not only accessed and potentially viewed information contained on that file server but also launched a ransom ware virus/attack on the file share server.

The facility said they learned of the attack on Sunday and immediately responded.

Officials said they disabled the unauthorized user’s access and took the computer systems offline.

Officials also worked to investigate, eliminate, and remediate the malware attack on the systems.

The facility said they had to pay the cyber-attacker’s ransom demand in order to obtain the decryption key and restore the encrypted data.

The facility said they do not know if the attacker had access to the files and were able to view any of the data in the systems.

Officials said they apologize for any concerns or inconvenience the attack could have cause but they were successfully able to restore its systems and recover data all within days of the attack.
