Columbia police arrest man accused of pouring bottle of bleach on woman, hitting her

Columbia police arrested Lorenzo Shephard on Thursday evening after officers were dispatched to a domestic assault in the 3000 block of Providence Road South.

Police said Shephard and the female victim were in an intimate relationship.

The investigation revealed Shephard and the victim were in a verbal argument, and Shephard demanded her phone so he could see her text messages.

Police said the victim refused to give Shephard her phone, so he struck her in the face with his fists several times.

The victim attempted to use her phone to call 911, but he wouldn’t let her call the police, officers said.

The victim tried to leave the residence, but Shephard grabbed her by the hair to prevent her from going anywhere, police said.

Officers said Shephard struck her again in the face, leaving abrasions on the inside of the victim’s lip.

Shephard also poured bottle a bleach on the victim’s head, police said.

The victim also told police that Shephard stole her phone and told her to tell police that nothing happened, police said.

Shephard was taken to the Boone County Jail and faces possible charges of domestic assault, felonious restraint, kidnapping, tampering with a witness, and stealing.
