Columbia police arrest man accused of attempting to hide drugs from officers

Columbia police arrested Scott Ostrander early Friday morning after officers said they observed a car with expired Missouri registration parked on Eighth Street near North Boulevard.

Police said they noticed Ostrander was sitting in the car with his left hand down near the seat and the door by his left leg.

Officers said they could see a plastic baggie sticking out from Ostrander’s hand between his thumb and index finger of his left hand.

Police said they told Ostrander to put his hands where they could see them and that Ostrander lowered his hands to try and conceal the baggie.

When officers searched Ostrander’s car, they said they found 7.83 grams of methamphetamine.

Ostrander is currently in the Boone County Jail facing possible charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Ostrander was previously arrested on Sunday after officers found more than 30 grams of methamphetamine.
