UPDATE: 17-year-old shot in the head on Bethany Drive expected to recover

UPDATE 10/19: Deputies said the 17-year-old victim was shot in the head but is expected to recover.

The victim was wounded by gunfire from outside the residence, according to deputies. They said a bullet went through a living room window and struck the teen.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputies are searching for a motive.

ORIGINAL: The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was shot Wednesday night at the Boone County/Columbia line.

The person was taken to a hospital and is expected to be alright. A house was also hit with bullets.

The shooting happened in the 4200 block of Bethany Drive around 10 p.m.

ABC 17 News spoke with area resident Stacey Wright who said she heard multiple shots fired and called 911 dispatch.

When deputies arrived on scene, she said she was sent back into her house for her own safety.

The shooting doesn’t surprise Wright because in the short week she’s lived in the neighborhood, she has already had to call law enforcement multiple times.

Just last month, ABC 17 News reported a person had been stabbed in the same block.

On July 4, a teen was shot in the area near Scott Boulevard and Bethany Drive.

Deputies do not yet have a suspect description for Wednesday night’s shooting.
