Student taken into custody after sending threat to South Callaway High School via Snapchat

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by administrative staff of the South Callaway High School on Wednesday evening after learning of a Snapchat message that had been sent to others by Gage Quick, 17, of Fulton.

According to the release from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, the message was threatening in nature and showed Quick with a pistol. “Y’all better be ready for what goin down when get back to school,” read the caption of the message.

Deputies found Quick at a home in Fulton at 11:03 p.m.

Quick was taken into custody without incident and was transferred to the Callaway County Jail.

Quick was processed for second degree felony making a terrorist threat and was released after posting bond.

“There has been evidence of a student making general threatening statements toward our school. These statements were not directed at any single person or group of students or staff. South Callaway does, and always will, work for the safety of our students. Law enforcement was immediately notified and is involved in the investigation. The suspected student is not on campus and precautions have been taken. We are working to obtain all information regarding this case. Again, the safety of our students is always our highest priority.”
