Rain possible for homecoming weekend

TODAY: Above average temperatures continue as afternoon highs reach near 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds will stay under 10 mph out of the southwest.

TONIGHT: It will be another mild night as overnight lows drop back into the low 50s under mostly clear skies. There will be a light, southerly breeze up to 7 mph.

EXTENDED: We’ll have passing clouds Friday with high temperatures in the upper 70s, remaining dry until the weekend. Clouds will really start to increase Friday night into Saturday. Saturday morning, we have a slight chance of morning showers mainly along and west of HWY 63. Saturday winds will be out of the south up to 14 mph, with some potentially gusty conditions during tailgating time. The better chance of rain moves in Saturday after 7 PM from the northwest as a cold front approaches. Showers and thunderstorms will increase Saturday evening and overnight. There is a marginal risk for severe weather with these storms, all counties are included other than Montgomery and Gascondade Counties. The biggest threat is damaging wind with the possibility for some large hail. Heavy rain is expected Saturday evening into Sunday with the potential for localized flooding. Rainfall amounts of .50″ to 1.0″ are likely with up to 1.50″ possible. Temperatures will climb towards the 80s ahead of the cold front Saturday, dropping into the upper 60s Sunday as cooler air moves in. Rain moves out by Sunday morning, leaving us with a dry and mild day. The work week will start with seasonal temperatures as we climb into the upper 60s Monday but another cold front brings cooler air in for Tuesday with high temperature only reaching the low 60s, dropping to near 40 Tuesday night.
