Columbia police say death investigation is underway in west Columbia

UPDATE 5:45 pm: A sergeant with the Columbia Police Department said investigators are in the process of getting a warrant to search inside the home on Summit Road.

The sergeant would not disclose any other details on the investigation including manner of death and whether the victim was a man or woman.

UPDATE 4:45 pm: ABC17 crews on scene say police are taking down the crime scene tape.

ORIGINAL: A lieutenant with the Columbia Police Department confirms with ABC17 that a death investigation is underway in the 2700 block of Summit Road.

Emergency crews responded to the area at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

ABC17 crews on scene say there is crime scene tape up in the area.
