UPDATE: Mizzou, Kansas basketball exhibition sells out

UPDATE: Kansas confirms it has also sold out its ticket allotment.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Mizzou ticket allotment for its game against Kansas on Sunday is sold out, just five days after the game was announced.

Both schools will split the approximately 18,000 seats at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Kansas has yet to announce if its ticket allotment is sold out.

The exhibition game will be held Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. All proceeds from the game will benefit hurricane relief. The game will not be televised live, but ABC 17 Sports Director Andrew Kauffman will have full highlights and reaction from the game Sunday night on SportsZone at 9:30 on Fox 22 and 10:30 on ABC 17.

Mizzou head coach Cuonzo Martin said, “The opportunity to use the platform of college basketball to help so many people in need is the most important aspect of this event.”

Last Friday, Kansas basketball coach Bill Self reaffirmed that he does not want to play Mizzou during the regular season due to the Tigers leaving the Big 12 in 2012. However, he said an exhibition game is different.

The ABC 17 Sports Department will be in Nashville this week to speak with Coach Martin, Michael Porter Jr. and Kevin Puryear at the SEC Tipoff event. Be sure to follow our coverage on air and online throughout the week.
