Columbia College offers resources to abused, harassed students

On Monday, Columbia College said it has multiple resources for its students who may have been harassed or assaulted.

ABC 17 News spoke with Title XI coordinator Molly Borgmeyer about the college’s resources after a national social media movement began to gain traction in mid-Missouri.

“We work a lot with the city and utilize True North (the local domestic and sexual violence victim service) and also utilize the hospitals as needed,” said Borgmeyer.

“Because we have so many other campuses as well, we also look at what different resources we need on all of those different areas,” she added.

Borgmeyer said Columbia College’s first fulltime position for a Title XI coordinator was only created two and a half to three years ago to better serve the students, faculty and staff.

She said “making sure that everybody knows where we are, what we do and how we can help out” are top priorities.

“We try to be very proactive in what we do, as opposed to reactive,” said Borgmeyer.
