Jefferson City police looking for woman accused of stealing thousands from local store

Jefferson City police are looking for Crystal Hanks after she was charged Monday with stealing.

According to the probable cause statement, officers were dispatched to Federal Recycling in the 2700 block of West Main Street for reports of employee theft.

Police said two employees of the business showed paperwork proving Hanks had been stealing money from the company since June.

The employees told officers Hanks had stolen $6,600 from Federal Recycling.

Police said Hanks would take the Change Request Form to the Jefferson Bank to get money for the business. Hanks would withdraw an additional amount than what was requested on the form, police said.

Officers said Hanks would keep the extra money and give the victim the amount that was requested.

The last theft of $1,000 by Hanks was conducted Aug. 25. On Aug. 28, Hanks left the company without giving notice.

According to the probable cause statement, police tried to make contact with Hanks at her house but they did not find her.
