Columbia police arrest man twice in one day, accused of breaking into a house

UPDATE 4:40 p.m: Bennett has been charged with burglary.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Robert Bennett after officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Edenton Boulevard in reference to a domestic disturbance on Saturday morning.

Police said earlier in the day they arrested Bennett for property damage and trespassing.

Officers said they gave Bennett a trespass warning for the residence on Edenton.

Police said when they responded to the house the second time, officers found out Bennett unlawfully entered through a window next to the front door.

A female victim told Bennett to leave the residence, but he struck two glasses causing them to break and refused to leave, police said.

Bennett was arrested and faces possible charges of burglary.
