Columbia man arrested, accused of breaking into storage unit, having methamphetamine, cocaine

Columbia police arrested David McFarland after officers were dispatched to the Triple L. Mini Storage in the 6100 block of Paris Road on Saturday because multiple storage units had been burglarized.

Police said they talked with the manager of the facility, who stated a vacant storage unit was used to gain entry into a rented storage unit.

Officers said they were able to look at surveillance footage and were able to identify McFarland.

A few hours later, McFarland was found sitting in his car in the 3100 block of Wingate Court, police said.

Officers said they searched McFarland and found a hypodermic needle in his pant’s pocket that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police also said they searched McFarland’s car, and found methamphetamine, cocaine and a smoking pipe with residue on it.

McFarland was arrested and faces possible charges of burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.
