Columbia Housing Authority addresses elevator malfunctions at Oak Towers

An elevator at an independent senior living facility in central Columbia broke down twice on Monday.

Phil Steinhaus with the Columbia Housing Authority said the elevator at Oak Towers has malfunctioned four times since the beginning of August, causing a problem because the other elevator is being replaced.

“We are replacing both elevators at Oak Towers,” Steinhaus said. “Work started on the first one at the beginning of August. It should be completed by the end of this month.”

On Monday, workers made repairs to the broken elevator.

Oak Towers is expected to complete renovations in 2018.
