UPDATE: Fulton man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter, sentenced to 19 years in prison
UPDATE 3:13 P.M.: Ringer pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. He is sentenced to 15 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and 4 years for leaving the scene of an accident.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Fulton man accused of killing a pedestrian last year is expected in Boone County court.
Ralph Ringer, Jr. is charged with murder and leaving the scene of an accident.
Witnesses told police they saw a car swerving on ABC Lane before the crash. One witness also told police he tried to help the driver out of the car, who then fell to the ground. Two breath tests were conducted on Ringer; the first producing a .131 reading, the second a .075. Ringer denied being in a crash and said he’d only been drinking a bit that day and had taken pain medication.
Court records list Ringer’s scheduled hearing as a “possible disposition.”
The hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m.
