Warmer temps by this afternoon
TODAY: Mostly cloudy skies will gradually clear throughout the afternoon into this evening, finally giving us a peak of sunshine. Afternoon highs today will top out near 70, which is near average for this time of year. Winds will shift around out of the south up to 8 mph and begin a slow warming trend. Despite the southerly winds, humidity will remain on the low-side.
TONIGHT: It will be a little bit warmer of a night as low temperatures only drop into the mid 50s by the morning. Skies will remain mostly clear with southeasterly winds up to 8 mph.
EXTENDED: Hot weather returns Friday and Saturday as we climb into the low to mid 80s. As a cold front moves into northern Missouri Saturday, it will increase shower and thunderstorm chances for areas north of I-70 during the day. We will have to watch for the possibility of strong to severe storms late in the day Saturday, north of Interstate 70. Northeastern Mid-Mo is under a slight risk for severe weather Saturday night with strong winds and large hail possible. As this front moves south Saturday night, a line of showers and storms will push south through the overnight hours and into Sunday morning, exiting our southeastern counties by Sunday afternoon. Along with the rain chance Sunday, cooler air will move in keeping our high temperatures in the mid to upper 60s on Sunday.
