Man steals electronics, MU athletic department clothing, police say

Columbia police arrested a man accused of breaking into a home and stealing electronics and MU athletic department clothing.

According to police, a burglary happened in the 200 block of Dorothy Dean Drive in mid-September. Police say the two homeowners were in the home asleep during the burglary.

There were 18 items stolen, including a TV, Apple TV box and 16 University of Missouri Tiger clothing items. The clothing items that were stolen were marked by a number and were items only issued to members of the University of Missouri Athletic Department. They were not available to the general public.

Officers then got a report that a friend of the victim noticed some of the stolen items were being sold on Facebook. Police say the seller of the items was Ivory Sharp.

Officers were notified that Sharp was seen walking around in the 5300 block of Tessa Way wearing an item of the clothing that was unique to the Athletic Department.

A search warrant was obtained for the Sharp’s residence. During the search, Sharp was apprehended on the property while trying to run out the back door. During the search, officers located a number of stolen items including the uniquely, marked athletic clothing items, the television and Apple TV box.

Sharp was arrested for burglary and trespassing.
