Drying out and cooler Wednesday, summer-like weather returns

TONIGHT: Drizzle is possible through early morning as low clouds stick around. Temperatures drop into the mid 40s with a chilly breeze from the northwest at 10-15 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Clouds will persist and we’ll stay mostly cloudy with afternoon high temperatures only reaching the lower 60s. Winds will shift to the northeast and diminish to 5 mph by evening.

EXTENDED: Winds will shift to the south Wednesday night and low temperatures will drop to near 50 as clouds break up and areas of fog form early Thursday morning. With increasing sunshine Thursday, afternoon highs will reach the low to mid 70s. Summer-like weather returns Friday and Saturday as we climb into the mid 80s. As a cold front moves into northern Missouri Saturday it will increase shower and t-storms chances for areas north of I-70 during the day. We will have to watch for the possibility of strong or severe storms late in the day Saturday in our northwestern counties near HWY 24. As this front moves south Saturday night, a line of showers and storms will push south through Sunday morning, moving out during early afternoon. Along with the rain chance Sunday, cooler air will move in keeping our high temperatures in the lower 70s Sunday. The work week will start mild and dry with high temperatures near 70.
