Boys & Girls Club of Columbia struck with gunfire as part of shooting

At least two bullet holes are visible on the side of the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia building. One window was broken through, and just below another bullet passed through the wall of the building. The second bullet caused damage to a backboard of a basketball hoop inside the building.

The shooting happened on North Boulevard by Ruckus Bar & Grill. Police were dispatched there around 1:20 a.m. Sunday morning. Three were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and another was grazed by a bullet.

The Boys & Girls Club facility on 7th Street recently finished a $2.5 Million renovation, which began in January. The new facility is complete and in use, but the club has yet to have a grand opening.

Brammer’s Auto Repair, another business on North Boulevard, saw damage from gunfire the next morning. One car in their lot was stuck by a bullet and had a visible hole the next morning.

A North Boulevard resident told ABC 17 they saw upwards of 75 people present in the parking lot across from Ruckus on Sunday night. Police recovered shell casings of multiple sizes on scene, suggesting there were multiple guns.

The neighbor said he has seen activity like this in the past, but that Saturday night featured more people than average. They said people were even using stairs outside of his door to avoid flying bullets.
