Two men arrested, accused of bringing guns on Hickman High School property

Columbia police arrested two who were accused of possessing firearms on Hickman High School’s campus on Monday afternoon.

On Monday, Tony Gragnani, principal at Hickman High School, wrote a letter informing parents, staff and faulty about the incident.

Gragnani wrote, “During our second lunch period, two males came on to Hickman’s campus from Providence. At no point did the men enter the building. They were immediately flagged by Hickman faculty as non-students. The two school resource officers were called to intervene. The two men were asked to leave campus. They were escorted off campus by the school resource officers. The two men then attempted to come back on campus at which point they were detained by the school resource officers. While detained a search was conducted, which revealed that the two men were in possession of firearms. The two men were subsequently placed under arrest.

I take this incident very seriously. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority. Our Hickman faculty and school resource officers followed proper protocol and procedures and were quickly able to address the situation. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.”
