Multiple violations filed against Osage Beach apartment building, prior to fire

Multiple violations were filed against an apartment building in the 900 block of Chateau Lane days before a fire destroyed the building.

According to the Notice of Violation filed by the Osage Beach building inspector on Sept. 12, there were unsafe structures, equipment and dangerous structures.

The building inspector also listed problems with the general exterior, stairs and walking surfaces, infestation, electrical system hazards and smoke alarms.

The building inspector said the entire property was dangerous and unsafe in a manner that would result in a no occupancy posting if contact is not made with the Osage Beach Building Department.

The building inspector noted that if the issues could not be resolved, the owner of the building would be required to demolish it in 30 days.

In May, a previous notice of violation was filed on the building.

The building inspector listed problems with the exterior, stairways, decks, porches and balconies.

On Sept. 20, a few residents were displaced after the building was destroyed.
