Columbia man arrested, accused of fraudulent use of credit card, stealing
Columbia police arrested Geoffrey Burris on Friday after officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Albany Drive.
Police said the female victim and Burris were related to each other.
Officers said Burris and the victim had been in an argument because he wanted the victim to give him a ride. The victim refused to give him a ride and wouldn’t let him borrow her car, police said.
Police said Burris kicked open her bedroom door, grabbed her car keys and took her car without permission.
Officers said the victim reported her purse with her debit card were inside the car and she was worried he might use it.
The victim got a hold of her bank and the bank explained that someone had just tried to use her debit cards on Paris Road, but the transaction did not go through, police said.
The victim told police Burris tried to contact her to get her PIN number, but she refused to give it to him.
Burris was arrested and faces possible charges of fraudulent use of a credit device, property damage, stealing and tampering.
