Hawley names independent counsel to investigate allegations of wrongdoing in Koster administration
Attorney General Josh Hawley on Thursday appointed Mr. Hal Goldsmith, of Bryan Cave, LLC as the outside council to investigate allegations of wrongdoing by the Koster administration.
Hawley said Goldsmith spent more than 20 years as an assistant U.S. attorney specializing in the prosecution of government corruption.
Hawley said Goldsmith has specific expertise in legal ethics and internal investigations.
“Mr. Goldsmith will have full access to Attorney General Office files and personnel to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased review of the alleged wrongdoing,” Hawley said. “I am confident he will conduct a thorough and independent investigation.”
The attorney for the family of Anthony Lamar Smith raised allegations of wrongdoing in connection with the civil lawsuit the family filed after the death of Mr. Smith.
