Suspect hospitalized after chase ends in crash
A Farmington man is recovering from serious injuries Tuesday after leading Rolla Police and Highway Patrol troopers on an early-morning chase.
According to a crash report, officers from the Rolla Police Department and troopers from the Highway Patrol were in pursuit of John Atkinson just before 1:30 a.m.
Troopers say Atkinson’s vehicle ran off the road and went airborne near County Roads 7100 and 7050 after trying to make a turn.
The car landed on its wheels, but Atkinson was not wearing a seatbelt and was seriously injured, according to the report.
Atkinson was flown by Phelps Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
