Jefferson city man accused of beating woman, sending her to hospital

Jefferson City police are looking for Danny Craig, a man accused of causing serious physical injury to another person.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim told police she was parked near a friend’s house when Craig began yelling at her and accused her of stealing his heroin, which she told police she did not do.

Police said that Craig was an acquaintance of the woman.

The victim said Craig hit her repeatedly in the face, pushed her to the ground and choked her, police said.

Officers said the victim told them that Craig had both hands around her throat and squeezed with all his strength, causing her to feel as though she would black out.

Craig threatened to kill her, police said.

The victim told officers she was able to kick Craig off her, but he was able to punch her in the face and grab her hair.

Police said the victim was able to get up but Craig chased her around her car.

The victim told police she grabbed a machete from her car and threatened to use it against Craig, and that is when he left the area on foot.

Police said a witness told them she saw a “black male with long dreads punching the victim in the face multiple times with closed fists and yelled that he wanted his stuff back.”

According to the probable cause statement, the victim was transported to the hospital for her injuries. She had blood covering her face, chest, arms, hands, and her left eye was bruised and swollen.

As of Thursday, Craig has not been found.
