Man charged with making a false report, leaving scene of accident after crash in Miller County

On Tuesday, charges were filed for Tony Gillet for leaving the scene of an accident after an August crash.

According to the probable cause statement, officers were contacted after a male was found walking on Scrivner Road, saying he had been in a crash.

Troopers said when they made contact with Gillet about the crash, Gillet said he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, and stated another person was doing so instead.

Troopers said they tried to contact the other individual, but could not reach them.

Troopers said the subject Gillet implicated was placed under arrest for leaving the scene of the accident.

The next day, the trooper said he was able to make contact with the caller. The caller said Gillet was the driver.

Gillet later admitted to driving the vehicle and told the trooper he did not mean to tell him another person was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, troopers said.

Gillet was placed under arrest and taken to the Miller County Jail.

Gillet has been charged with making a false report, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, resulting in an accident.
