Hot, humid weather for the start of fall
Summer officially comes to an end at 3:02 PM Friday but a summer-like weather pattern will continue. A ridge of high pressure aloft over the southern states will hold through the weekend, keeping our upper level winds from the southwest which will keep warm air in place. At the surface, southerly winds will continue to send in humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, keeping dew points in the upper 60s to near 70.
High temperatures each day will reach 90-92 degrees, more what we would expect in mid-summer. The humidity will make it feel like the mid to upper 90s through Saturday. This pattern will break as a cold front moves in next Tuesday, bringing a chance of storms and seasonal temperatures for the middle of next week.
