Firefighters say damage estimates from Fulton fire are around $100,000
The Fulton Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire in the 100 block of West 6th Street on Tuesday.
Firefighters said early reports indicated the fire was active in the basement. Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke showing from a single-story wood framed commercial structure.
Firefighters said that when they entered the building, they were met with intense heat and heavy smoke while they attempted to make their way to the basement.
Firefighters said the basement had only one set of stairs going in and out with no windows.
Extinguishing the fire took a long time due to the location of the fire, firefighters said.
Firefighters said no one was injured and everyone was able to make it out of the building before first responders arrived.
Damage estimates are around $100,000, firefighters said.
Fulton Fire Department investigators are investigating the incident, but the fire is not considered suspicious.
Firefighters say the New Beginning Church of Christ, The Hair Hut and the Food Bank sustained damages due to the fire.
ABC17 spoke with the owner of Hair Hut Salon, she said the business will be closed for a while, but encouraged customers to visit their Facebook page for updates on the repairs.
