CPD announces schedule for fall community meetings

On Tuesday, the Columbia Police Department announced its beat commanders will begin holding a series of community meetings starting the first week of October.

The meetings will focus on open discussion between area residents and the beat commanders.

The schedule for the meetings are:

October 3- Beats 70 and 80 will meet at New Haven Elementary School.

October 5- Beats 10 and 20 will meet at West Middle School.

October 10- Beats 50 and 60 will meet at Ann Hawkins Gentry Middle School.

October 12- Beats 30 and 40 will meet at Derby Ridge Elementary School.

All meetings will be held from 7-8 p.m.

“We encourage everyone to attend a meeting in their area,” says Assistant Chief Jeremiah Hunter. “The citizens of Columbia are an extension of our department, and it’s imperative we establish and maintain positive relationships to combat crime together.”

The meetings are free and open to the public.
