Columbia police respond to car crash, arrest man in previous weapons incident

Columbia police responded to a vehicle collision in the 400 block of Alexander Avenue on Saturday.

Police say when they arrived on scene, they arrested Rickey Ricketts in connection with a previous incident that had occurred on Friday evening.

On Friday, police had responded to physical domestic assault with a weapon.

Police say Ricketts was involved in an altercation with a male and a female family member. .

Ricketts had reportedly held a knife to the male’s throat and pointed an assault rifle at the male victim, police say.

When officers were searching Ricketts vehicle after the crash, they found substances that tested positively for heroin and methamphetamine.

Ricketts was arrested and could face possible charges of armed criminal action, domestic assault, felony unlawful use of a weapon, and felony possession of a controlled substance.
