Moberly Fire Department responds to early morning house fire

A fire severely damaged a home in Moberly early Sunday morning, officials said.

The Moberly Fire Department responded to the house fire in the 400 block of Halleck Street around 2 a.m.

Firefighters at the scene told ABC 17 News that the fire started in the back of the house, near the kitchen.

Firefighters had to respond to the home a second time around 8 a.m. because the fire started to rekindle toward the back of the home.
