Southern Boone employee being investigated for drugs

The superintendent for Southern Boone County Schools sent a letter to parents saying the Boone County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an employee after claims of illegal drug misconduct.

The letter claims Superintendent Christopher Felmlee was notified on May 16 about the investigation. Felmlee said he and the high school administration took “immediate and substantial steps in response, removing the employee from district property.”

Felmlee said the employee is no longer employed by the district.

The letter continues to say the district is fully cooperating with the investigation and will take any further actions necessary as the investigation goes through the criminal justice system.

Felmlee concludes the letter saying “The district has a zero tolerance policy in regards to illegal drugs and staff. Safety is of the utmost importance to (the) district.”
