Columbia man sentenced to four years in prison for role in shooting

A Columbia man who pleaded guilty in August to his role in an April shooting learned his fate on Monday.

Assistant Boone County Prosecutor Brouck Jacobs told ABC 17 News that Monterio Truss was sentenced to four years in prison for tampering with evidence and got a 15-year suspended sentence for unlawful use of a weapon.

Truss was one of three men arrested after witnesses claimed men in two vehicles were driving and shooting at each other on Crestview Drive in early April. No one was injured during the crime.

When Truss is released, he’ll be subject to probation for the weapon charge. The amount of time for his probation will be determined later and he could go to prison for as many as 15 years if he violates it.
