Man charged with robbery, accused of throwing knife in Menards parking lot

A Jefferson City man was in the Boone County Jail Thursday, accused of robbery and throwing a knife at someone in the Menards parking lot in Columbia.

On Wednesday, Menards employees said they saw Andrew Miller trying to steal items including a Bosch drill valued at nearly $260.

When the employees tried to stop Miller in the parking lot, police said he threw an open folding knife at them. He also dumped the stolen items and his keys, which employees used to find his vehicle.

Miller ran across highway 63 to get away, but a deputy later saw him in the area. A short foot pursuit ensured with Miller being taken into custody.

Miller is charged with robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.

He has since bonded out of jail.
