Labor Day fatality crashes lower this year versus last year
As Missourians celebrated the last holiday of the summer, many people took advantage of the nice weather, hitting the road.
MoDOT told ABC 17 News they eliminated the number of active construction zones to ease traffic woes.
“We restrict the amount of work zones we have active during the holiday period,” Randy Ablur with MoDOT said. “We try to minimize that impact.”
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F increased their traffic enforcement presence on the roads, having troopers stationed every 20 miles.
Last year during the labor day holiday, 20 people were killed across the state. In Troop F alone, there were three fatal crashes and no boating deaths. So far this holiday weekend, there has been one death and no boating deaths.
Tuesday morning, be aware that construction zones will be active again. Here is a breakdown of some of the work going on in mid-Missouri.
