Summer today, fall tomorrow
TODAY: Ahead of an approaching cold front, we’ll see gusty conditions through the day. Winds will gradually shift out of the W/SW up to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. High temperatures for today will be around 90 degrees. Thanks to an increase in moisture, we’ll see humidity values bring our heat indices into the mid 90s across Mid-Missouri. While sunny skies will be prevalent, we will see increasing clouds by evening.
TONIGHT: This cold front will spark scattered showers and storms after 5 PM. Right now, parts of Mid-Missouri are under a slight and marginal risk for severe weather, with the greatest threat being winds up to 50 mph and quarter size hail. Storms are expected to carry through the night as they track to the south. Up to .30″ of rain is possible. Overnight lows will drop into the low 60s.
EXTENDED: AM showers are possible for those south of Hwy 50 through Tuesday. Following the rain and clouds, much cooler air will filter into Mid-Missouri. We’ll see overnight lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s, with afternoon highs in the lower 70s. It will be our first true taste of fall and will carry us into the upcoming weekend. By next weekend, we’ll see temperatures still below average, but approaching 80 degrees. Dry weather and sunshine will be in abundance over the next 7 days.
