Boone Co. men found with warrants, stolen gun and crack after traffic stop
After a Boone County deputy pulled a vehicle over for a traffic violation around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, the driver of the car, Kyle Shepherd, 25 of Columbia, was found to have several warrants out for his arrest, as well as possessing marijuana, deputies said.
After the deputy searched the vehicle more, the passenger, Devere Estes, 44 of Columbia, was found to have a significant amount of crack cocaine as well as a stolen hand gun in his possession.
Deputies said the crack cocaine was packaged in a way to be sold. Estes is also a convicted felon, who is currently on parole for assault and illegal possession of a weapon, which means it is illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Shepherd had burglary and stealing warrants for his arrest from an incident where he allegedly forced himself into an occupied residence on June 7 at the 4700 block of Millbrook Drive, and forcibly stole one of the resident’s cell phones.
Shepherd was booked into the Boone County Jail and possibly faces charges of failure to appear warrant for assault and first-degree burglary and forcible stealing. Shepherd’s current bail is $25,000, according to deputies.
Deputies gave Shepherd a citation for possession of marijuana.
Estes was booked into the Boone County Jail and possibly faces charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon while in possession of a controlled substance and stealing and possessing a stolen firearm.
Estes is being held on a $21,500 bond.
